Chinese technology brand
has launched the
Mi Band 5
in its home country today. The device has been launched in two storage variants priced at CNY 189 (roughly Rs 2,000) and CNY 229 (roughly Rs 2400). While the former does not offer NFC support, the latter does.
The Mi Band 5 offers a 1.2-inch AMOLED display that supports more than 100 new animations for watch faces with popular characters from the country including Hatsune Miku, SpongeBob SquarePants and more.
The latest fitness band from Xiaomi comes with a new charging doc that attaches magnetically. The fitness band has two electrodes that stick out at the bottom of the band that can automatically hook the charging dock. This means that the users do not have to detach the tracker out of the strap in order to charge it.
In terms of specs and features, the Mi Band 5 offers support for 11 sports modes as well as tracking period tracking. Further, there is also support for REM sleep in addition to light and deep sleep.
Also, there is also an in-built barometer in the Mi Band 5 to check the atmospheric pressure.
While there is no word on the India availability of the Mi Band 5 as of now, the company is fully expected to launch it in India as it has been launching all the fitness trackers here. The company’s India launch is traditionally three months after its India launch. For instance, the company had launched the Mi Band 4 in China in June 2019 and then in India in September 2019. Therefore, we may have to wait a while before the India launch actually happens.
To recall, the Mi Band 4 was launched in India at 2,299. It offers a 0.95-inch colour AMOLED display with customisable watch faces. With a claimed battery life of 20 days, it is water resistant up to 50m.
