rolling out the ‘
’ have been there since 2018. Just last month, WABetaInfo — the online platform that tracks the upcoming changes and features — claimed that the feature has been shelved. Now, the platform has again found traces of this feature.
To recall, this feature was spotted first in October 2018. Using this feature, WhatsApp users could have been able to mute archived chats so that they remain archived until the user unmutes them.
Now, however, WABetaInfo has now claimed that the feature is finally coming. “WhatsApp has decided to implement the Vacation Mode again, under a new form.”
As per the report, there will be a new dedicated section for the Vacation Mode, that is said to allow users to choose different “parameters.”
When the new feature will be enabled, Archived chats will be moved to the top of the chats. Also, if the users tap this new cell, the Archived Chats section will be presented, and it will show a new button called Notifications, suggests the report.
The report suggests that when the user will navigate into Notifications, they will be able to choose the behaviour of Archived Chats, when new messages arrive, after which they will get two options — ‘Notify new messages’ and ‘Auto hide inactive chats.’
The first option is the current option, which means that if the user decides to disable it, they will have the vacation mode, so archived chats continue to stay in the archive when new messages arrive. As for the other option that is said to be an extension of the vacation mode, if a chat is older than 6 months, it will be automatically archived.
