Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has said he wishes the show was on "any other network" than Fox, in a row over Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Not only did MacFarlane create the long-running animated show, he lends his voice to the characters of Peter, Brian and Stewie, as well as a raft of others.

In a tweet on Sunday, MacFarlane wrote: "Tucker Carlson's latest opinion piece once again makes me wish Family Guy was on any other network.

Tucker Carlson’s latest opinion piece once again makes me wish Family Guy was on any other network. Look, Fox, we both know this marriage isn’t working anymore. The sex is only once a year, I don’t get along with your mother, and well… I’ve been having an affair with NBC.

"Look, Fox, we both know this marriage isn't working anymore.

"The sex is only once a year, I don't get along with your mother, and well… I've been having an affair with NBC."

It is not clear which comments MacFarlane is referring to, but Carlson, one of the network's highest rated presenters, has been criticised over his stance surrounding COVID-19 vaccines recently, expressing doubt over their effectiveness - which many have condemned as misinformation.

Carlson was a key supporter of Donald Trump and has previously claimed that Dr Anthony Fauci, the man leading the White House response to the pandemic, created COVID-19.

MacFarlane revealed last year that he had signed a deal to make content for NBC, and before that had voiced concerns about sharing a Fox brand with news host Laura Ingram, saying: "I really cannot fathom that we produce content for the same corporation."

Family Guy, which has been renewed for a 21st season, is aired on Fox in the US, while it is made by 20th Television Animation - owned by Disney.

Fox TV and Fox News are owned by the Murdoch family, while most of Fox's film and production assets were bought by Disney in 2019.

To complicate matters, it streams in the US on Hulu - which is run by Disney and Comcast (the owners of Sky), and streams in the UK on Disney+.

MacFarlane appears to be moving his shows away from the network, with his latest, The Orville, moving from Fox to Hulu.

American Dad transferred from Fox to TBS in 2014.
