Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday gave an address on the Ladakh face-off between the armies of India and China and said that although India wants peace, when instigated it is capable of giving a befitting reply.

The prime minister’s remarks came after 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a face-off with Chinese troops along the undefined Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh on Monday. According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), PM Modi will also hold an all-party meeting on Friday to discuss the situation on the country’s border with China.
