Though the coronavirus pandemic has caused many of Pride’s jubilant festivities to go virtual this year, there’s no reason not to still embrace that celebratory spirit. After all, what better way to make a scene-stealing Zoom entrance than with sparkling swooshes at eye-level, a trippy tie-dye pout, or brows adorned with an assortment of flashy crystals?
“To me, Pride makeup is a way to express your love, joy and support for the LGBTQ+ community through colorful expressions and designs,” says Fara Homidi, who dreamt up a parade of such head-turning beauty moments, broken down below, that riff on the iconic rainbow flag. As the makeup artist behind Maryam Nassir Zadeh’s electric bolts of neon eyeliner and Off-White’s high-wattage hot pink mascara, Homidi has become known for subversive pops of pigment applied with a raw, real-life edge, so rest assured: “There are no rules,” she insists. In other words, bring a free hand and an open mind; it’s time to get creative. The Rainbow StrokePhoto: Courtesy of Fara HomidiPhoto: Courtesy of Fara Homidi

Add a drop of water to a flat synthetic brush, such as Makeup Forever brush #410, and swirl it into Mehron’s rainbow palette. Apply onto the eye with even pressure, pulling out towards hairline. Dip a skinny Q-tip into micellar water to clean and shape into preferred pattern. Gently pat on glitter, mimicking the rainbow colors underneath, so that the colors underneath can still peek through.
