violated the ceasefire twice along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s
for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, targeting forward
in the areas.
“Around 7.30am, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing of small arms and
shelling mortars along the LoC in Rajouri’s Nowshera sector. Around four to five villages were affected by the intense shelling. Some cattle died while a cowshed was damaged in Dhanaka village,” Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said.
“The second violation came around 8.45pm in Poonch’s Balakote sector,” Lt Col Anand added.
Indian Army effectively retaliated to the twin breach of truce, and no injury or casualty was suffered by own side so far, the spokesperson added. The cross-border fire exchange continued intermittently till the filing of this report.
On Tuesday, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire twice along the LoC in Kerni and Mankote sectors of Poonch district. A day prior to that, a similar breach of truce was reported along the LoC in the district’s Khari Karmara sector.
