NEW DELHI: With procurement going on in

full swing

in

Punjab

and

Haryana

, the government agencies have procured 44,809 tonnes of paddy at minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 1,888 per quintal in both the states in four days since the beginning of the operation on September 26.
Nearly 3,000 farmers have so far joined the operations at different mandis in both Punjab and Haryana. The procurement operations had begun five days ahead of the normal schedule of

Kharif Marketing Season

(

KMS

).
The fast-paced procurement operation is seen as a signal to farmers by the Centre that the MSP regime will not be affected by the newly enacted farm laws.
