BBK-owned smartphone brand
is said to be working on a 65W fast charging technology for its upcoming smartphones, according to a report by XDA Developers.
As per the report that cites new strings found in the Engineering Mode app inside Android 11 beta for OnePlus 8 phones, there is evidence that the Chinese company may offer 65W fast charge support for future OnePlus smartphones.
The report said that the upcoming charging tech is likely to make a debut with the next OnePlus handsets — expected to be called the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8T Pro.
Alternatively, it is possible that the company reserves this for a special edition in the ’T-range’ of smartphone series, which ideally would have been the McLaren edition as since 2018, the most-expensive and most-powerful smartphone in OnePlus’ lineup has embodied design elements of the British motor racing team McLaren. However, now that the partnership has ended we will have to wait and see what OnePlus has in store.
The alleged 65W Warp Charging from OnePlus is likely to work on the same technology as 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging system from Oppo, another BBK-owned smartphone brand, that is said to charge a handset from 0 to 100% in about half hour. This tech was unveiled in September 2019 and has been introduced with the Oppo Find X2 smartphone that is soon going to launch in India.
At the time of the launch, Oppo had claimed that using this fast charge tech will help users reach full battery status of a handset offering 4000mAh battery that is completely drained in 30 minutes. Also, it is said to charge the device from 1% to 100% in 27 minutes. Further, five minutes of charging time will increase the battery up to 27%, Oppo had said.
