officially confirmed that he has started a new consumer technology company based in London called

Nothing

. Pei had quit OnePlus to start his own venture. Media reports claimed that Pei’s new startup -- Nothing--will focus on audio technology. Pei founded popular smartphone brand OnePlus along with Pete Lau.
Pei has raised undisclosed funding from CRED founder Kunal Shah and $7 million round of seed financing in December 2020 that included notable tech leaders and investors such as Tony Fadell, Casey Neistat, Kevin Lin, Steve Huffman and Josh Buckley.
“I am deeply grateful and tremendously excited to have friends of this caliber supporting us in building what’s next,” said Carl Pei. “We plan on moving aggressively against our vision, and can’t wait to see how the market will react.”
This seed investment will support the creation of a head office in London, hiring of the team, and finance ongoing product research and development efforts.
“Carl spent the last decade making products that millions of people love. He deeply understands what consumers want, and I can't wait for the world to see what he has in store next,” said Josh Buckley, CEO of Product Hunt.
