Micromax to soon make a comeback in Indian smartphone market

Domestic smartphone maker Micromax is set to make a comeback with the launch of new smartphones in the country. This confirmation comes to Micromax India’s official

account itself.
Replying to two separate Twitter users, the company confirmed that the announcement is going to happen soon. In the first tweet, Micromax said that it is working on launching something big without giving any details about what is in store.

In the second tweet, the company gave a little more clarity where it said, “A device with premium features, thoroughly modern look and [is] budget-friendly,” is coming soon.

Micromax has been away from the smartphone game for a while now. From what is mentioned above, one can expect the company to make a comeback in the budget/mid-range smartphone segment for now. It will certainly be interesting to see how the Indian company is able to take on OEMs such as

Xiaomi

,

Realme

, etc in this price range.
Even though the company has been away from the smartphone market, it was among the top 5 companies of the Indian feature phone market in the first quarter of 2020. Micromax captured a 7% market share at the end of the first quarter of 2020 as compared to the 2% market share it had at then of the first quarter of 2019.
The feature phone market was led by Itel, with a 22% market share. Both Lava and
