NEW DELHI: North east Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari will kickstart a Rath Yatra from February 1 to collect donations from the people of his constituency for the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The beginning of the campaign will also mark the birthday of Tiwari who described the construction of the temple as an epochal development and urged everyone to contribute to it.
A bus designed for the campaign will carry Tiwari and local BJP workers and will go to different areas including minority areas in North east Delhi and also areas which were hit during the last year communal riots.
“Several brothers and sisters from the minority community also want to contribute to the construction of Ram Mandir. I will also go to their houses, shops and establishments and seek donations,” said Tiwari. The campaign will end on February 27.
Tiwari who got 7.8 lakh votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha election hopes that public funding will generate a good amount of money. “The money collected through donations will be handed over to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, which has been mandated to collect funds for the temple construction,” Neelkant Bakshi, a BJP functionary said.
