NEW DELHI: Facing heat over corruption allegations levelled by former Mumbai police commissioner,


home minister Anil Deshmukh on Tuesday called on chief minister

Uddhav Thackeray

at the latter's residence in Mumbai.
In his letter to Thackeray, shunted Mumbai top cop Param Bar Singh had said Deshmukh used to instruct senior cops, including Sachin Waze, to collect bribes from restaurants and bars and gave them a target of accumulating Rs 100 crore every month.
The senior NCP leader had denied the allegations, saying he will sue Singh.
Singh has also moved

Supreme Court

seeking a CBI probe into the corrupt allegations against Deshmukh.
On Tuesday,



Devendra Fadnavis

leveled fresh allegations, saying the state government did not take action on a report submitted by then Commissioner of Intelligence Rashmi Shukla on corruption in police transfers.
Fadnavis said he had 6.3 GB data of calls intercepted by Shukla with due permissions, where names of several key police officers were discussed.
