There’s one covetable sneaker that appeals to both heel-wearers and sneakerheads alike— the Loewe Ballet Runner. First released in August 2019, Loewe smartly paired “the construction of a ballet pump with the style of a 1970s track shoe” to create a fashionable sneaker with mass appeal. Sleek and cool, the Ballet Runner helped incite the '70s retro sneaker trend and has staying power in its versatility— the clean silhouette means the sneakers pair well with suits, dresses, jeans, trousers, you name it.

Loewe continues to release their Ballet Runner sneakers in a multitude of muted colorways, and while they’re an investment at $650, they’re also a great entry point into luxury. Designer JW Anderson is heralded for his clever design and almost intuitive understanding of the zeitgeist both at his eponymous label and at Loewe. Pairing the silhouette of a ballet shoe and a retro trainer is only a small example of his prowess. As one of the Forces of Fashion designers, we’re also looking forward to hearing how these investment pieces came to fruition and what’s up next from the designer.
