SRINAGAR: Police on Wednesday busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror funding module in north
district and arrested three affiliates of the outfit.
Acting on intelligence inputs about LeT activating the module to finance terror activities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora and Kupwara districts, Bandipora Police arrested the trio — Irshad Ahmad Sheikh of Chittibandy Aragam, Mohammad Junaid Wani of Nageen Bagh Sopore, and Raj Mohammad Khan of Lolab Kupwara — and seized Rs 4 lakh cash, Rs 1 lakh in bank accounts and other incriminating material from their possession, police said in a statement.
The three were in touch with their handlers in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and had raised Rs 14 lakh, out of which Rs 9 lakh had been distributed to sponsor terror activities in the two north Kashmir districts. Aragam Police registered a case under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and further investigations were underway, the statement added.
