Chinese technology company
Lenovo
is planning to launch its first
gaming smartphone
in July, as per a report by TechRadar. The company recently shared a teaser on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo where it says that the phone would arrive in China this July. However, the exact date of the launch hasn’t been revealed yet.
The teaser poster shows a Legion logo in a red accent. The company has been posting teasers for about some months now.
So, what to expect with the
gaming phone
, now that it faces stiff challenges from those from Asus and Nubia in the market? For starters, it may come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor (which was teased by Lenovo earlier) coupled with a DDR5 RAM and may even be a 5G phone. It may have the front camera on the side, as per the report. As for the display, it is rumoured to come with a 144Hz OLED display sans the notch. Right now, the
Nubia RedMagic
5G comes with a 144Hz refresh rate display while the
Asus ROG
Phone II features a display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
More expected specifications include a 64MP primary rear camera and a 16MP ultra-wide lens, X-axis linear motor for haptics, an in-display fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C port and dual stereo speakers. The phone is expected to be given a 5000mAh battery.
The gaming smartphone market has seen a boom in the last one year or so with gaming-centric smartphones like the Asus’ ROG Phone I and II, Black Shark and Black Shark 2 and Nubia’s RedMagic 3 and 3S phones making their way to India.
