It's safe to say that Netflix, along with other OTT platforms, has been one of the world's biggest sources of entertainment this year, as many countries continue to follow social distancing guidelines. The streaming platform has also been treating audiences around the globe to fresh content on a regular basis, making sure couch potatoes have something new to binge-watch almost every weekend.

In a series of exciting announcements, the newest one to come from Netflix  reveals that Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington, who played Jon Snow in the hit series, is making a return to our screens in Season 2 of police interrogation drama Criminal. What's more, Harrington will be working with none other than Kunal Nayyar, who wrapped up the critically acclaimed series The Big Bang Theory only last year. The duo will be joined by Catastrophe’s Sharon Horgan, and The Slap’s Sophie Okonedo, who will both be heading into the witness room this season to tell us their tales.

The English language trailer of Criminal Season 2 (the show also has French, Spanish and German versions) takes watchers inside the four walls of a police investigation, showing us how authorities try to break suspects with mental conflict. Set entirely inside an interrogation room and its adjoining recording room, Criminal Season 2 will see each character going through an investigation for a different case. It’s up to the detectives to get the information they need and crack the case. This edition of the show will mark both Harrington and Nayyar's first roles since they ended their previous projects. Nayyar also took to his Instagram account to share the first look of the upcoming show, saying, “Very excited to share... Criminal U.K. Season 2! A dream project, with a dream team of actors, writers, directors, and producers. September 16th, @netflix.”

The first season of the original series saw David Tennant and Hayley Atwell as guest stars alongside series regulars Nicholas Pinnock, Katherine Kelly, Lee Ingleby, Mark Stanley, Rochenda Sandall and Shubham Saraf. Criminal is written by Killing Eve's writer George Kay, and Wrong Mans producer and She’s Out Of My League director Jim Field Smith.

The second season of Criminal releases on September 16, 2020.
