Who says brown is boring? Earth tones are fail-safe, tried and tested neutrals you cannot go wrong with—especially in the case of makeup. Take Kiara Advani’s recent beauty look, for instance. Makeup artist Lekha Gupta played with matte textures in neutral tones all over the face, and complemented them with a shiny, nude lip. The trick to keeping the look from falling flat? Add a subtle pop of colour on the cheeks.
To try the complete look on yourself, follow these steps.Get the look: Kiara Advani’s matte brown eyes and nude lipsBegin by applying a primer all over your face (use a mattifying one, if you tend to get oily). Next, choose a medium to full coverage foundation like the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and buff a light layer all over your face, extending to your neck. Dab and blend concealer on areas that need a little more coverage. For the eyes, use a primer like the NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base to keep your eyeshadow from creasing. Then, apply a light brown powder eyeshadow all over your eyelids and crease. With a clean blending brush, diffuse the edges. Load the same shade on a pencil brush and run it along your lower lash line to define it.Tightline your eyes with a chocolate gel liner pencil like the Chambor Intense Definition Gel Eye Liner Pencil in 103 Dark Chocolate. With the same pencil, line your upper lash line and use the pencil brush to softly smudge the colour. Then, curl your lashes and coat them in mascara—use the narrow end of the wand to coat the bottom lashes.Fill any gaps in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil like the Maybelline New York Define & Blend Brow Pencil in a shade that suits you, and brush them into place with a spoolie.Seal your base with some translucent powder, applied on the T-zone. Then, warm up your complexion with some powder bronzer, blended along your temples, cheeks and jawline. To sculpt the cheekbones, apply some contour powder along the hollows of your cheeks, using an angled face brush. For long lasting lip colour, fill in your lips with a nude lip liner and define the edges. Then, apply a matching lip cream or gloss on top.A soft pop of colour on the cheeks will break the monotony of all the nude, neutral tones on your face. So, apply a pink powder blush like the M.A.C Matte Powder Blush in Desert Rose on the apples of your cheeks to complete the look. Also read:
