While the UK has decided to shorten the

between Covishield doses, the

stood by its decision to increase the gap, and said it was based on assessment of experts and no controversy be created over suspected vaccine shortages.

The government said the expert group’s assessment is that even a single dose is 60-85% effective in disease prevention (collectively for mild, moderate and severe) and inhibits transmissibility.
