Govt launches start-up plan for Dalit techies

NEW DELHI:

Union social justice

and empowerment minister Thaawarchand Gehlot on Wednesday launched the “Ambedkar Social Innovation and Incubation Mission” to create start-up companies headed by

Dalit

techies. The minister said under the project 1,000 youths belonging to the SC category would be identified in the next four years with start-up ideas through the Technology Business Incubators in various higher educational institutions.
They will be funded Rs 30 lakh in three years as

equity funding

to help them translate their ideas into

commercial ventures

. Successful ventures would further qualify for venture funding of up to Rs 5 crore from the Venture Capital Fund for SCs.
