NEW DELHI: The home ministry on Friday allowed

certain categories

of

foreign nationals

to enter India, including those married to Indian citizens,

minor children

with at least one parent who is an Indian citizen and single parents of minor children holding Indian passports or

(OCI) cards.
The relaxation in visa and travel conditions will also benefit students who are foreign nationals and at least one of their parents is an Indian citizen or OCI card holder. Also, dependant family members of foreign diplomats/official passport holding staff accredited to foreign diplomatic missions, counsel or offices of accredited international organisations in India, are now allowed to enter India.
These categories of foreign nationals shall have to obtain a fresh visa of appropriate category from Indian missions abroad. Foreign nationals holding long-term, multiple-entry visa shall have to get the visa revalidated from Indian missions. Such people will not be permitted to travel to India on an e-visa.
The home ministry had on May 22 allowed entry of certain categories of OCI card holders, including children whose parents were Indian nationals; OCI card holders who wished to come to India on account of family emergencies like critical medical condition or death; married couples where one spouse is an OCI card holder and the other is an Indian national; students where at least one of their parents is an Indian citizen or an OCI card holder.
