KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate has sent a notice to Bengal chief secretary Rajiva Sinha seeking appearance/reply of four senior officials at the state secretariat Nabanna before June 22 over the sale of the state government’s shares in Metro Dairy to Keventer Agro Ltd.
The agency wants to question these officers about the share-value at which the state government divested its 47% stake in Metro Dairy to the food and beverage company. As per sources, the Bengal government had allegedly sold its 47% share to Keventer Agro at Rs 85 crore in 2017. The four officials have been given the option to send their written replies to the ED as personal appearance is not mandatory due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Adhir Chowdhury had moved the Calcutta HC in 2018 complaining that the government sold its shares in Metro Dairy for a pittance.
