has announced a new game set in the Star Wars universe called
Star Wars: Squadrons
. From the looks of the trailer, it is going to be a
space combat game
in which the players get to fly the starfighters of the film series and engage in first person combat with other pilots in space. In the multiplayer, there will be 5v5 battles as the squadron the trailer talks about is composed of five pilots. So few? They are the Galaxy’s finest, as per the trailer.
You, your team, and the fastest star fighters in the galaxy. It's time to become the galaxy's finest. This is… https://t.co/HB5iV4dksA— EA Star Wars (@EAStarWars) 1592233500000
‘Star Wars: Squadrons’ is set to launch on October 2, 2020. The game will let players take command of a range of starfighters from the Imperial and the New Republic fleets like the X-wing and the TIE fighter. Before each skirmish, you will get to plan out the strategies in the briefing room. The battlefields will be diverse, with “known and never-before-seen locations, including the gas giant of Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.” So, EA seems to be offering plenty for people who would love to have that dogfight adventure in space without leaving their couches.
What makes Star Wars: Squadrons unique is the five-player co-op mode in which your choice of weapon is your own spacecraft you will fly. If there is a diversity of ammunition depending upon which aircraft you pick, then the chances of depth in battle strategy could be more.
Along with multiplayer, the game also has a single-player campaign. EA is also giving the option to play the entire Star Wars: Squadrons in VR on PlayStation 4 and PC with cross-play support.
Some of the Star Wars games to have come out in recent years have been Star Wars: Battlefront II in 2017 and Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order in 2019.
