In the head-spinning age of multistep skin-care routines and mic-drop makeup launches, The One is a space for minimalists to sound off on a single beauty product that has found a longtime spot in their carefully curated routines.

It should come as no surprise to anyone who follows Daphne Javitch’s Doing Well Instagram that for the designer-turned-integrative-nutritionist, beauty starts from within. “It sounds so corny,” the 40-year-old tells me over the phone from her Brooklyn brownstone, “but my favorite product is water.” After all, she adds with a laugh, “I barely know how to put on mascara, so I’m not down for a super complicated routine.” Instead, she complements her inside-out approach with just a handful of select non-toxic cosmetics: detoxifying Epsom salts, Vintner’s Daughter botanical-based serum, and a supersized organic body oil.

“I wanted a moisturizer for when I got out of the bath, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune,” Javitch says of the criteria that led her to Cliganic’s nutrient-rich jojoba oil—which is packed with vitamins E and B, as well as nourishing antioxidants and minerals, like chromium, copper, and zinc—that she buys in bulk on Amazon. Now, at 37 weeks pregnant with her second son, she slathers it on post-soak, massaging it into the areas where her skin has stretched most. “I really put a lot on my belly and my hips and my breasts and my butt,” she explains, noting that she doesn’t need to be too precious with the cold-pressed formulation, which rings in at just $25. “It’s not a fancy product, but I kind of love that about it.”
