NEW DELHI: The Union

home ministry

had, two days prior to announcement of the

Babri Masjid

demolition case verdict by a special CBI court in Lucknow, sent an advisory to all the

states

and Union territories asking them to take every possible precautionary step to maintain communal peace and social harmony.
In the advisory dated September 28, the

Centre

asked the states and UTs to ensure that peace and tranquility is maintained and any attempt by

communal forces

to create tension between communities on grounds of religion, is nipped in the bud.
The home ministry advice to the states was meant to avert any untoward incidents of communal nature both in the run-up to the verdict as also in view of the likely unhappiness of a section with the verdict.
