Today in New York City, Bella Hadid was spotted with the accessory of the season, the book The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron. She carried the 272-page book—the 25th edition to be specific—under her arm while wearing an elevated Canadian tuxedo, complete with a tight-fitting blue vest by EB Denim over her camel turtleneck. It isn’t the first time she’s posted the self-help book for creatives: Back on February 7th, she storied an image of the book amid a glimmering heap of crystals.

The Artist’s Way has been having a bit of a comeback as of late. According to the book, which was published back in 1992, it serves the purpose of “unlocking your inner artist.” It’s work not to be taken lightly; there is homework involved. The book consists of a 12-week program that gives the reader a task. Each morning, the reader is supposed to write their “pages” in a notebook, which are three pages written in longhand that pose questions like “write down all the people you’re jealous of” and “list down traits you liked about yourself as a child.” If you look closely, you’ll see that Hadid is also carrying a black notebook—maybe that’s where she’s keeping her pages?

Hadid is an avid reader. Back in 2019, she was spotted toting along the horror novel The Outsider by Stephen King while on a private plane and later carried it while walking through Charles de Gaulle airport. (The bleeding red color of the cover makes it hard to miss!) Around the same time, her sister Gigi was photographed carrying a The Stranger by Albert Camus. (This cover was more lowkey: black and white in a swirl print!). As for this moment of reading-with-Hadid, we have to appreciate that in a very online world, she’s been putting in handwritten work to tap into her creative self. Also, the pale mustard cover of the book really makes her outfit pop.
