BENGALURU: Basavaraj Bommai will be the new chief minister of Karnataka. His name was proposed in the legislature party meeting in Bengaluru on Tuesday by outgoing CM B S Yediyurappa, who resigned from the post on Monday.
Bommai represents the Shiggaon constituency in the Haveri district and he handled home, law and parliamentary affairs ministry in Yediyurappa's cabinet. He is a trusted lieutenant of Yediyurappa.
The 61-year-old, is the son of late former chief minister S R Bommai, who was in office from office 1988–1989.
