NEW DELHI: A special court in Mumbai on Thursday extended the

NIA

custody of suspended

Mumbai police

officer

Sachin Waze

till April 3.
Waze was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the probe into an explosives-laden SUV found near industrialist

Mukesh Ambani

's residence.
During the proceedings, Waze denied all charges against him and said that he is being made a "scapegoat" in the case.

He further said that he was the investigating officer only for one-and-a-half days and investigated the case as it should have been investigated.
He said that the Crime Branch and Mumbai Police teams were also involved in the probe.
The NIA on Wednesday invoked provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against Waze in the Antilia

explosives

scare case.

Waze (49) is a former 'encounter specialist' and is credited with eliminating many criminals in 'encounters'.
He is also facing heat in the murder of Thane-based businessman Mansukh Hiran, who was in possession of the explosives-laden Scorpio car.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), which is investigating Hiran's death, said that Waze is the prime accused in the case and allegedly conspired the murder along with two of his associates, who have also been arrested.
Hiran was found dead in a creek in Thane on March 5, days after he claimed that the Scorpio with explosives found near Ambani's house had been stolen from his possession.
