At a recent charity auction in Capri, Katy Perry complemented her vintage Pierre Cardin gown with a beauty look that was equal parts classic and avant-garde. The tones used were neutral and understated, but the winged shape of the eyeshadow, the unusual cut-crease and epic set of lashes gave the makeup an experimental twist. Makeup artist Michael Anthony used various Pat McGrath Labs products to create the look including the Skin Fetish: Divine Blush in Nude Venus and the Mattetrance Lipstick in Christy. It’s not the kind of makeup you can throw on in five minutes, but if you’ve got some time to spare and want to test the look on yourself, follow these steps.

Get the look: Katy Perry’s bronze lids and big, bold lashesFor a flawless base like Perry’s, prep your skin with a rich moisturiser and then buff a medium coverage foundation all over. Then, dot concealer under the eyes and on any blemishes or scars, and use your foundation brush to blend it. Seal your base with a light dusting of a finely-milled setting powder. With a contouring and bronzing product like the Patrick Ta Major Sculpt Crème Contour & Powder Bronzer Duo, add warmth to the face. Use the bronzing powder across the temples, hairline and jawline, and sculpt the face by applying the cream contour along the hollows of your cheeks. Pop an illuminating blush like the Milani Baked Blush in 03 Berry Amore on the apples of the cheeks.Apply a nude cream eyeshadow all over the eyelids to prime them. For the eye look, Perry’s makeup artist seems to have used the Pat McGrath Huetopian Dream Mothership IX Palette, which hasn’t been released yet. But any palette with peachy, bronze tones (like the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette in Pillow Talk) will work to recreate this look. With a dense angled brush, apply a peachy matte shade along the eye socket, resembling a soft cut crease. Apply the same shade along the top lash line, extending it to create a wing. Then, intensify the wing with a darker bronze shade from the palette. Use a small blending brush to diffuse any harsh edges.Sweep the same two shades along the lower lash line. Next, use a black gel eyeliner to tightline the eyes and add subtle definition along the upper lash line.Apply a coat of mascara on the top and bottom lashes. To match Perry massive, doll-like eyelashes, choose a voluminous pair of falsies like the Huda Beauty Noelle Lashes #14 and stick them close to the lashline. Once the glue has dried, go over the seams with the black eyeliner to conceal any patches of glue that may be visible.Define the brows with an eyebrow pencil and then use a highlighter like the e.l.f. Cosmetics Metallic Flare Highlighter in Rose Gold on the brow bone. Sweep the same powder on the high points of the cheeks.Line the lips with a warm brown lip liner, going over the edges slightly to create a fuller pout. Then, apply two coats of your favourite brown-nude lipstick to complete the look. Also read:
